Tom Kohn – Member of TSI Advisory Team

Tom Kohn is a digital veteran, focused on creating new revenue streams and businesses for companies, big and small. He is currently a professor/executive-in-residence at American University's Kogod School of Business teaching business strategy, organizational behavior and global corporate citizenship, plus he is working with several start-ups on issues of business development, marketing, fundraising and strategy. As the EVP of Digital for Cygnus Business Media, Tom helped to transform the company's digital strategy and increase digital revenue, overseeing groups focused on technology, new product development, multi-media, rich media, digital operations and design. In April 2013, in New York City, Tom was inducted into the Media Industry News (MIN) Digital Hall of Fame. In 2012, MIN named Cygnus Digital a finalist for "Digital Team of the Year," along with The Atlantic, Ziff Davis, Crain Communications and others. Before Cygnus, Tom was an entrepreneur and CEO for 10 years, raising $10MM for two different high-tech companies, both of which are thriving and profitable. Tom has worked in the Internet industry since it began, enjoying positions with AOL, Viacom New Media, Freeloader and USATODAY.com/Gannett, where he was Chief Revenue Officer. Pre-Internet and business school, Tom conceived of, launched, and produced several television and radio programs in New York City, produced nationally-aired commercials for Ogilvy & Mather (including associate producing a Super Bowl commercial for American Express), and launched the New York office of an LA-based television production company. Tom has a BA from Stanford and an MBA from Harvard.
