| About Crypto-Sign®
Crypto-Sign®
is a non-invasive biometric technology, based upon electronic sign
verification and signature capture. It combines the benefits (and
eliminates the disadvantages) of the Password/PIN and traditional
biometric signature verification systems as a means of remote user
authentication. In application the technology requires the submission
of a secret sign (no display or inking) on a PDA or digitizer, which
is statistically compared to a previously established template for
the sign.
Crypto-Sign®
Applications range from remote access control to networks,
web sites, files and electronic documents to secure document signing
for proof of authorship and delivery. It is ideal for secure storage,
access to and retrieval of electronic documents from electronic
vaults and, with the advent of the Net enabled wireless PDA, for
conducting secure document-based transactions and M-commerce from
these devices. It would be an ideal technology to work in conjunction
with an authentication server based service, using wireless PDA’s
or wired PDA’s connected to Workstations or Laptops, where
the pen-based hardware means of biometric input is already included.
Based upon a business model of software licenses per PDA/Workstation,
the ROI to enterprises installing Crypto-Sign® products is
phenomenal.
Biometric Performance is a key
area of product differentiation. Through his original Sign/On signature
verification product, Mr. Beatson’s pre-Crypto-Sign®
signature verification algorithms have been positively evaluated
by Sandia National Laboratories and compare favorably with better-known
biometric systems such as fingerprint, facial recognition and voice
recognition. With the added secrecy afforded by Crypto-Sign®
the FAR/FRR performance, security and user friendliness is significantly
enhanced above the original Sign/On product.
Crypto-Sign® Development
Status
TSI first developed a Win 32 based Crypto-Sign® system using
sign input from an off-the-shelf digitizer. This ported easily to
the Pocket PC 2002 platform and a PDA Crypto-Sign® demonstration
system is now available for these devices. TSI’s first product,
PDA-Protect®, extends the demonstration system to protect
access to the PDA and its data by interrupting the Password request
process. PDA-Protect was Beta tested by Microsoft and is now released.
Please see the PDA-Protect page for product details and ordering
information.
